Reggae music lovers were treated to non-stop reggae music in Lilongwe on Saturday night when Jamaican reggae artists Luciano and Everton Blender headlined a reggae festival at Grand Business Park in Lilongwe.

The well-patronised event, organised by Jah Kings Promotions, saw the two reggae music icons as well as some local reggae and dancehall artists taking turns in entertaining the masses throughout the night.

When local artists finished entertaining patrons, Everton Blender took to the stage with his song Blenda Still Deyah. He followed it up with other hits such as Just Ah Come, Where is Your culture?, Family Man, World Corruption and Lift Up Your Head.

Patrons sang along to some of his songs while the majority danced while lifting their hands in their air.

When Luciano came on the stage, the tempo was already high and he entered the arena with his hit-song Give Praise.

Other popular songs he performed included Sweep Over, There is No Love, Hills and Valleys, It’s Me Again Jah and Rainy Days.

It was during Luciano’s set that reggae music fanatics showed just how much they know his songs as they practically sang along to the songs while dancing in slow feet stamping style.

In random interviews, many patrons expressed satisfaction with the delivery of reggae music.

One of the patrons, Gift Chikabadwa said the two artists proved that experience is a good teacher.

“Their ease on stage shows that they really are used to performing to huge crowds. They have delivered and left no room for complaints,” he said.

On the local artists’ performance, Chikabadwa said Chizmo, Blasto, Queen Fyah and Don Tarz exhibited the ability to deliver on stage and entertain music lovers.

In a post event interview, Jah Kings Promotions member Richard Chisala said being their first ever reggae festival, Malawians have proved to be reggae music lovers.

“Malawians should expect events of such nature every year,” he said.
