Pamodzi Consultancy Limited representative and site engineer Noordeen Itimu said one of the roads earmarked for tar is from Mzimba Market to Mzimba Bridge.

“Overall, the project is focusing on 16 kilometres of roads around Mzimba Boma. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the M’mbelwa District Council to ensure timely

delivery,” he said.

In a separate interview, M’mbelwa District Council director of lands and public works Allan Chitete said government is funding the construction works.

“We have been receiving complaints from people because there have been accessibility problems in the townships. So, this project will benefit them in the district,” he said.

Chitete said the council will sustain the project through periodic maintenance, cleaning the drainages, doing patches where potholes develop and general sensitisation for people not to tamper with the road structures and furniture.
