Report unfair trading–Tembenu

Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner Esmie Tembenu has underscored the need for consumers to be empowered stating it is only knowledgeable and empowered consumers that will ably contribute to the economic development of the country.

Speaking today at the 2020 commemoration of the World Consumer Rights Day underway at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, Tembenu implored consumers to report any unfair trading conduct in any sector to the CFTC.

The commemoration, jointly organised by the CFTC and the Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA) is themed ‘protecting consumers from substandard products’. 

A panel discussion to mark the commemoration with panelists from the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA), Malawi Bureau of Standards (MSB),   Renewable Energy Association of Malawi, CAMA and CFTC is currently underway.
