A week after Malawian models complained of not getting their money from Malawi Fashion Week (MFW), over five months after participating in the inaugural show, South African model Neetasha Singh is dragging the organisers to court on similar grounds.

Singh, through her attorneys Meryl Moonsamy, has started the legal process by suing MFW organisers Dawa Loga Lemberger of Elegant Resources and Chikumbutso Mtumodzi of African Dzuwa Magazine, for damages after she participated in the event in May.

“We act for Ms Neetasha Singh of Model Camp (Pty) Ltd of Durban, South Africa in this matter. We are instructed that in terms of a contract entered into between you; C Mtumodzi and D. Loga-Lemberger and our client; on the 29 May 2013, she was mandated to host a Model Boot Camp at the Malawi Fashion Week.

“We bring to your attention herein that our client has complied fully in terms of her duties of fulfilment of the contract. You however, have failed to comply in that she has not been paid for the services rendered. In terms of aforementioned contract, you are indebted to our client in the sum of USD1 000 after banking charges deductions have been made,” reads a letter signed by Moonsamy dated August 8.
