Search for a Star voting goes online

In a bid to give more people an opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant in the ongoing Sunbird Search for a Star, organisers have created a website where people can cast their votes.
The website www.ewallettalent.com lets people to write the code number of their favourite contestant and the votes will be combined to the Short Messages (SMSs) being sent to 50505 through Airtel and TNM networks.
One of the organisers of the contest Felix Njawala said the competition is getting tough, but said some people have been unable to vote through SMSs due to the cost. He said most people have access to internet through both computers and mobile gadgets, hence making voting through the internet more sensible.
“I can say we are remaining with only the cream of the contestants and it is not easy to evict one. We are happy that we are getting many SMSs. However, some people cannot vote. We have some people outside Malawi following the competition and their cheapest mode of voting is internet. Even back here, some people cannot send many SMSs, but can post many posts on social networks. This means the website will be a relief to this group of people,” said Njawala, adding that the website would go live from yesterday.
Thirteen contestants qualified for the third round on Saturday and face next eviction on November 16 at the Sunbird Capital in Lilongwe.
The organisers have also said contestant Sigere Akim, who collapsed in disbelief after she survived eviction last Saturday, is doing fine and raring to go.
