Silver’s Daisi to miss action for a month

Silver Strikers left-winger Ndaona Daisi will miss the rest of the Presidential Cup assignments following an injury he suffered in the game against Epac FC.

Daisi was injured in an off the ball incident when Epac goalkeeper Tione Tembo stepped on his leg. Tembo was shown a straight red following the incident.

Doctor’s diagnosis revealed a lacerated skin on the shin, exposing the bone and Daisi has been advised not to play football for four weeks, according to the club’s treasurer Fred Kalonga.

“He is one of our key players and to lose him to injury is bad for the club. We have told him to take it easy and follow doctor’s advice. It was a needless foul by Epac goal keeper,” said Kalonga.

Daisi was replaced by Green Harawa in the Presidential Cup game against Big Bullets on Sunday.

“The good thing is that Green combined well with Jester Mulima. That was a relief to us to find such a good replacement,” said Kalonga.

Meanwhile, Epac FC have apologised to Silver for the injury.

“We have no excuse for the behaviour of Tione [Tembo]. That was deliberate and stupid. We sincerely apologise to Silver and also to the player [Daisi] for the injury caused,” said Epac coach Abbas Makawa.

“We have our way of dealing with such issues. His sending off cost us the game, but the executive is yet to act on the issue. An appropriate action will be taken,” said Makawa.

Tembo will also miss the game against Blantyre United on Saturday in the TNM Super League.
