Silver Strikers have re-signed midfielder Frank Banda on a two-year deal as the Central Bankers reinforce their youthful side to challenge the 2020/21 TNM Super League title.

The midfielder, who was part of Silver Strikers squad that last won the TNM Super League in 2013, signed the deal on Wednesday as a free agent.

In an interview yesterday, Silver Strikers communications and marketing officer David Daniel Daud said Banda’s experience will inspire the youngsters to do well.

He said: “Banda is a Silver Strikers legend as he was instrumental in the last league winning campaign for the Area 47 giants in 2013, playing as an attacking midfielder.

“Silver Strikers have a new look team with other new additions in all departments except the goalkeeping department. The Zambian coach Daniel Kabwe-led panel assessed Frank and wanted him to be part of the squad after impressing.”

On his part, the player said he is back to help the team win the league as the 2020/21 season is already underway.

The player secured a move to Mozambique’s top league side UD Songo in 2014, but he was released this year.

Silver Strikers recruited Kabwe with former Flames players McDonald Mtetemera and McDonald Yobe as his assistants.

In March this year, Silver Strikers off-loaded 18 players as part of rebuilding the team under the new technical panel.

They are currently on sixth position with one loss, one draw and one win.
