Songwe Border suspend coach
Struggling TNM Super League outfit Songwe Border United of Karonga have suspended their head coach Christopher Nyambose for 21 days following a string of poor results that have condemned the team to the bottom of the table.
The club’s general secretary Palisha Swila said the decision was made after the technical panel failed to meet the club’s performance targets.

Swila said the three-week suspension will allow the club to assess the situation before deciding on the way forward.
Meanwhile, in Nyambose’s absence, assistant coach Edwin Kaonga will lead the team on an interim basis as the club’s management monitors progress.
Songwe Border United’s debut season in the top-flight league has been disastrous by all measures with just two points from 19 games.
Stuck at the bottom of the table, the team faces relegation with 11 matches remaining before the end pf the season.
Nyambose’s suspension comes after Songwe were hammered 4-1 by another newcomer Ekhaya FC at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe, Blantyre on Saturday.
Nyambose was not available for comment, but in a post-match interview after the 4-1 loss he was confident of bouncing back.
He said: “As of now, we are a TNM Super League team. So, don’t rule us out. The league battle is a marathon. Let’s wait until we finish all the games.”
The team’s performance has been disastrous this season and they have broken a record of being the first TNM Super League side to go 19 games without a win, scoring just seven goals while conceding 51.
