South African Airways cancel flights over safety concerns
South African Airways today cancelled its flight into Malawi due to safety concerns, Nation Online has established.
According to sources at SAA, today’s flight was cancelled due to lack of fire engines at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).
“Ÿes we have cancelled today’s flight because we cannot risk our passengers. Currently there are no fire engines at the Kamuzu International Airport hence flights cannot come in or go out. If they provide the engines we will start flying,” said the source.
Efforts to talk to SAA Country Manager James Chilaonda and ADL CEO Rodrick Chattaika proved futile as they could not be reached.
