Speaking at the two centres, Mtema shared the word of God from the Gospel according to Mathew Chapter 25 verses 31 to 40.

He said as a church, it was imperative to meet the victims to share not only the word of God, food and clothes, but also to encourage them not to despair in their time of distress.

“We are here because we are commanded by Jesus Christ to help one another in times like these,”he said.

Blantyre Bangwe legislator Orphan Shaba (Democratic Progressive Party)commended St James CCAP for helping his constituents.

“You could have chosen to go to places close to where your church is located but you reached out to us. We are grateful,” he said.

During the visit, St James CCAP congregants shared breakfast with the survivors.

Mpingwe Primary School camp had 850 people but the number has gone down to 580 as some of the people whose houses were not completely destroyed by the cyclone have been repatriated to their homes.
