It is Christmas today and some sports stars have shared with The Nation how they will spend this special day.

Former Flames captains Joseph Kamwendo and Peter Mponda have said they will spend part of the day giving small presents to the needy.

“I  will give presents to some needy people in the spirit of the festive season so that they, too, can have joy as we celebrate the birth of Christ.

“But I will spend the better part of the day with my family at home and then have a good time with friends,” said Kamwendo who plays for DR Congo’s TP Mazembe.

“I am planning to go to church with my family and then I will reach out to some needy kids and give them small presents. I believe it is important that we share the little we have with others that cannot afford, especially kids,” said Mponda.

Celebrated South Africa-based light-heavyweight boxer Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba said he will have a brief workout in the morning and then proceed for a walk at one of the parks in Johannesburg.

“I just want to relax and admire the beauty of nature in the park,” he said.

National netball team captain Caroline Mtukule-Ngwira said she is looking forward to preparing a special traditional meal for her family.

“Just looking forward to having a good time with the family and listen to Christmas songs,” she said.

Flames battle-hardened forward Esau Kanyenda said he will travel to Kruger National Park with his family to view wild animals.

Top golfer Paul Chidale said: “I am in the mood for partying. I will link up with friends and have fun.”n
