Sulom enforces work permit rule on foreigners
Super League of Malawi (Suloom) has enforced the rule on work permit requirement for foreign
players. The development led Be Forward Wanderers to fail to feature their Nigerian marksman
Babatunde Adepoju and Ghanaian defender Eric Atsiga in their TNM Super League match against Civil Sporting Club at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday. The Nomads won the match
2-0. Wanderers chairperson Gift Mkandawire yesterday confirmed that they could not feature the
two players “due to immigration issues”. He said: “Yes they [Sulom] have enforced the rule. They could not
let us use the lads. “But we are optimistic of having them available for selection this weekend as we are hoping to finalise the immigration formalities by tomorrow [today].” Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the clubs were reminded on the need to process work permits for their foreign players. “Teams are supposed to provide work permits and international transfer certificates. “We just reminded them and they are complying,” he said. Apart from Babatunde and Atsiga, the Nomads also have a Nigerian defender Raphael Otibho. Silver Strikers also have Ghanaian forward Mike Tetteh and Nigerian defender Yunus Sherrif while Ntopwa FC have Nigerianstriker Friday Osagie in their fold
