Sunset sessions move to Blantyre

Lake of Stars (LOS) festival pre-event, Sunset Sessions, makes its maiden show in Blantyre early August with music as the main event on the menu.

Sunset sessions are evening events that LOS organisers hold to give people a hint of what they should expect during this year’s festival scheduled from September 28 to 30.

For the first time, the event concentrated in Lilongwe atop the Golden Peacock, will be in Blantyre on August 2 at Chez Maky.

“A Sunset Session is an intimate crowd of music lovers enjoying acoustic music over their sundowners or Chapmans as the sun sets over our beautiful Malawian horizon. This is Lake of Stars’ 11th year; including Blantyre in our Sunset Sessions is just a sign of our getting bigger and better,” said one of the organisers Fiona Odala in an interview.

Unlike in Lilongwe where acoustic music and poetry was the centre of focus, music will feature highly at the Blantyre sunset session with an after party at Mustang Sally.

Said Odala: “We have Agorosso, Tigris, Nyali Music, and the always captivating Jacaranda choir. In addition, we will have various surprise giveaways and the only one I will mention is a pair of free three-day Lake of Stars festival tickets. As for the after party, Blantyre is said to be a party city; we want to see if they live up to the reputation at Mustang Sally.”

She said LOS has some amazing events lined up on the road to the festival which will be done in conjunction with their partners, including DHL, TNM, Malawi Airlines, Kenya Airways, Pro-flight Zambia.
