International medical experts have agreed there is still much work to be done to have more insights into the global health challenges in the face of the threat posed by HIV and Aids.

The observation was made at the just-ended International Aids Conference (IAC) in Melbourne, Australia which also discussed Malawi’s contribution in the global fight against the disease through Dignitas International Malawi, a medical and research organisation working in Southern and Eastern regions.

The organisation’s researchers Dr. Joep van Oosterhout and Dr. Fabiano Catalido presented five abstracts at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre last week.

“As Dignitas, we believe that more scientific research conducted in Malawi will help answer better the health challenges the country continues to face. We have mobilised a multi-disciplinary and multi-national group of researchers from the global North and South to respond to priority questions that directly impact the quality and accessibility of health care.” Van Oosterhout explained.

According to information sourced from Dignitas International website, the two presentations highlight Malawi’s contribution to the global fight against HIV and Aids.

The abstracts presented at the summit include Interventions to Improve Coverage and Impact of PMTCT Services and Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission.
