Mponda: It was a wonderful experience

Surestream Football Academy has said it will allow its technical director and former Flames captain Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda to perform national duties should there be need.

The academy’s England-based director Chris Pitman said it is his wish that Mponda should scale lofty heights in his coaching career and the plans are to send him for further advanced courses in the near future.

Mponda has taken the first step by successfully completing the English FA Level One coaching course held in Warwick, England.

“He did exceptionally well in the level one course that he attended here and the instructors spoke highly of him. The future looks bright if he can keep his focus.

“We would also want Malawi to benefit from the knowledge that he will gain from such courses and should they need his services at national level, we’ll be more than willing to release him depending on his schedule at that particular time,” said Pitman from England.

Speaking on arrival last week, Mponda described the two-week course as an eye-opener.

During the trip Mponda also had the privilege of watching England take on Chile in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium and an English Premiership match between Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion, saying: “It was a wonderful experience.”
