The ongoing Lab Enterprise Match Play at Blantyre Sports Club continues to pull surprises. Zachariah Hara and Titus Nnensa were shown the exit in the second round by Medson Kalambule and his wife Sophie.

Hara and Nnesa anticipated a whitewash, but to their surprise, they gave up a two-point lead on hole 12. By hole 14, the Kalambules had created a five-point lead after Medson had a birdie that earned the couple four points.

The first round of the singles ended on October 20 and the much-touted names were humbled. Lester Tandwe outsmarted his doubles partner Colin Sibande.

Harold Jiya could not stand the heat. He gave up his game to Gabriel Kambale who proved to be too good for him when they played doubles against defending champions Donbell Mandala and Edwin Chipala.

The golf captain Hudson Kantwanje was no exception as he paved way for his deputy to second round without hitting the ball. Kantwanje lost a cousin on Saturday and could not play in the singles on Sunday.

Margaret Mukwenha proved that the male-dominated game can also be won by ladies. She beat her husband Allen, on hole 16.

The doubles are still in the second round and so far the casualties are Nnensa and  Hara.

The singles and doubles second-round games will finish on November 3 when the pairing for quarter-finals will be done.

The climax of this competition will be on December 1 2013 with individual stable ford competition.
