France-based Malawi women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga isn’t slowing down in her pursuit for the golden boot as she created a three-goal cushion over her closest chaser.

The Scorchers skipper was on target as her club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) Women beat Montpellier 3-1 in the French Women’s Division One Arkema on Sunday.

She has now taken her tally to 15, three above second-placed Lyon’s forward Ada Hegerberg.

Tabitha: It’s about team work

Tabitha also leads in assists with 10, one above Lyon’s Kadidiatou Diani.

In a match monitored on PSG TV, the 27-year-old scored the third for Les Parisians in the 49th minute, rounding off Montpellier’s Oceane Deslandes before firing a left-foot shot into the net.

Despite the win, PSG remain second in the 12-team league with 45 points from 18 matches, seven behind leaders Lyon.

In an interview yesterday, Tabitha said she is excited with her consistency in keeping the goals flowing.

“I keep on saying that it’s all about team spirit. The teamwork that is there now is so amazing that it appears easy when actually it is not. I thank God for His continued blessings,” she said.

The prolific forward, who is on a season-long loan deal from Chinese Super League side Wuhan Jiangda, is also joint leading  scorer in the Coup de France with four goals.

She has also scored four  goals in the Uefa Women’s Champions League, including one in the preliminaries against Manchester United Women.
