Tay Grin returns favour with free show
In appreciation for the support he received after fire destroyed his home earlier this year, award-winning musician Tay Grin held a free concert for his fans dubbed Level Up at Masintha Community Ground in Kawale Township, Lilongwe on Saturday.
Despite the afternoon rains threatening to disrupt the event, the turnout remained massive.

The crowd, largely made up of the youth, stayed put until the Nyau King came on stage.
Initially scheduled for 10am, the event experienced delays due to the weather.
But by 3pm, up-and-coming artists set the mood with short but lively sets.
They included S Bizzo, King Dollar, Kisco, Juju Matrix and Adobe dancing crew.
True to its youth empowerment theme, the event also featured booths of several partner organisations offering services.
They included mental health support, sexual health education and talent recognition initiatives taking place concurrently with the show.
Some attendees walked away with branded T-shirts and caps from different partners and service providers.
Tay Grin finally went on stage in his trademark fashion flanked by Nyau dancers.
He delivered a performance that was nothing short of the magic he showed at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) fundraiser event.
The Nyau King ensured that fan favourite songs such as 2 by 2, Tola, Lubwa and Kanda as well as his hit track So Mone done in collaboration with Zambian Yo Maps were sang.
In an interview prior to the show, Tay Grin reflected on the support he has received since the fire incident that gutted his house in Area 43, Lilongwe.
He said: “Many of my fans couldn’t make it to BICC, but I still wanted to thank them. This free show is my way of saying ‘I see you and I appreciate you.
“Some young people have been checking on me and sending messages of encouragement. I felt I had to return that love.”
Roadster’s head of business Lalit Rohilla said they were proud to partner with Tay Grin.
Other partners included Banja La Mtsogolo, Zathu, Story Club FM, Sound Addicts Live, Lassi House and Mobischool.
Tay Grin and his team plan to take the Level Up experience to Blantyre.
