Teacher college, schools sign pact
Blantyre Teachers’ Training College (BTTC) on Friday signed agreements with 106 teaching practice schools defining their roles as trainers and teacher learners.
South West Education Division (Swed) senior inspector and adviser of secondary education, Lawrence Udedi, said after the ceremony at BTTC the partnership agreement outlines roles for each of the players, especially when the teacher learners go for practicals in their second year.
“Previously, we did not have guidelines on what can happen when teacher learners flout some rules. Assessing the teacher learners has also been hard in the absence of rules,” said Udedi.
BTTC principal Stanley Kwengwere said the pact championed by the German International Cooperation (GIZ), will help improve the quality of teachers.
BTTC trains teachers from Blantyre, Chiradzulu, Thyolo and Mulanje.
