This weekend’s round 16 of the 2013 Carlsberg Cup could grant temporary relief to some of the battered and bruised TNM Super League teams.

Big Bullets have a chance to have some respite from their man-made crisis that has rocked their camp when they welcome equally wounded Silver Strikers at Kamuzu Stadium today.

A draw and loss cannot amount to a crisis, Bullets midfielder James Chilapondwa argued on Radio 2 FM on Tuesday. “If it does, then what do you call the situation in Silver’s camp?”

An answer could be provided in this Kamuzu Stadium meeting where Silver interim coach Stain Chirwa will have no honeymoon against the Bullets.

While the pressure on Silver will be more on the coaches, in the opposite camp eyes will be on the Bullets under-fire ‘veterans’. And this includes Chilapondwa who has vowed that the team will bounce back and end “this nonsense”.

On Sunday, Carlsberg action goes to Zomba where Red Lions will entertain Mighty Wanderers who ended the soldiers’ unbeaten league run last month with a 2-1 win.

It is becoming a norm that the Nomads’ never finish a season without silverware, hence more will be expected from the current side which can score through anyone.

Of course, Kumbukani Mwambeni and Boniface Kaulesi are expected to give the Nomads’ defence an unpleasant dance on the park.

On Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium, Presidential Cup kings Mafco will be chasing a double when challenging success-hungry Azam Tigers. The Tigers could be itching to avenge the 3-1 Presidential Cup beating they suffered at the hands of the uncompromising and unpredictable Salima soldiers.

In earlier kick-offs, Evirom met Bvumbwe Research on Friday as we went to press also at Kamuzu Stadium while Kabwafu and Moyale Barracks will be on each others’ necks today in Mzuzu with Mponela welcoming Mzuni at Silver Stadium.
