Teveta pumps in K200m to complete technical college
Minister of Labour Peter Dimba says government is committed to equip the youth with different vocational skills to empower them to contribute to national development.
He said this on Friday at Nathenje in Traditional Authority Chadza in Lilongwe District where he appreciated the progress of Mgayi Community Skills Development Centre.

Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education Training Authority (Teveta) is constructing the structures to the tune of K200 million to accommodate more learners.
Said Dimba: “We want these buildings to be completed by the end of this year so that we expand the centre and offer as many programmes as possible to the youth.
“I have seen that this institution can become a district technical college, especially for Lilongwe East because it is centrally located.”
He said government wants to equip many youths with vocational skills to take a lead in the agriculture, tourism, mining and manufacturing (ATMM) sectors.
Teveta board chairperson Pyoka Tembo said once completed, the centre will offer different courses such as agriculture and mining which are in line with the ATMM strategy and the Malawi 2063, the country’s long-term development strategy.
“We believe that this country depends on skilled workers who can contribute to the country’s development,” he said
In his remarks, Mgayi Community Skills Development Centre acting principal Raphael Mtonga said the centre was geared to produce qualified future leaders and innovators.
