To join TP Mazembe in January: Kamwendo

Flames captain Joseph Kamwendo’s move to Congolese giants TP Mazembe has stalled, leaving the TNM Super League without a football export in the January transfer window whose curtain went down on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Kamwendo’s manager Felix Ngamanya Sapao confirmed that there was no contract between the midfielder and Mazembe, home to his compatriot Luka Milanzi now on loan at Zambia’s Zesco.

“Apsone David Manjate [Liga Muculmana and Mozambique striker] and Joseph Kamwendo are supposed to join Mazembe on the 1st of January, 2014, but the contracts of sale agreements have not been signed by Mazembe because there are changes being made in their league season,” Sapao insisted.

“Once these changes are confirmed, I presume a new contract of sale will have to be drafted once the clubs agree on the terms. Liga Muculmana need both players to win the league this season and their league ends in November,” Sapao said in a response to an e-mail.

In June, Kamwendo said it was just a matter of days before he signed for Mazembe who are former CAF Champions League kings.
