Unima new administration block to enhance status
University of Malawi (Unima) assistant registrar for administration Kumvenji Lamba says the new administration block will address challenges of space as well as enhance the institution’s status.
Speaking during a media tour of the administration block on Tuesday in Zomba, he said the facility has streamlined the operations at Unima.

Lamba said as the institution continues to grow, it is important to have a modern building that aligns with their mandate.
He said: “Over the past years, University of Malawi has been steadily growing evidenced by the significant increase in student enrolment and the number of staff, which is currently at 800.
“The new building has 100 offices and I must say that the infrastructure has become a source of admiration.”
Lamba said Unima’s partnership with the government and other institutions such as the World Bank will continue to drive growth and development.
Ministry of Higher Education spokesperson Gift Chiponde said the new infrastructure aligns with the ministry’s strategic priorities.
He said the administration block will enhance institutional efficiency, improving governance and the delivery of essential services.
“These developments underscore our unwavering commitment to strengthening teacher education and creating conducive learning environments,” said Chiponde.
He also said the new infrastructure will elevate the quality, relevance and inclusivity of higher education in the country.
