Universal Industries Limited has officially launched Supa Chips and Magic Mornings—its two new products on the market.

Speaking at a colourful function held in Blantyre on Friday, the company’s chairperson and managing director Dinshi Armin underlined that Universal believes in supporting government initiatives of coming up with products that enhance substitution.

“These products are completely Malawian. They are the work of our technical which has worked so hard in collaboration with the Malawi Bureau of Standards. It is our hope that Malawians will support these products on the market,” he said.

Dinshi—who called on banks to consider lowering the interest rates for the ease of the manufacturing sector—added that one of the products, Magic Mornings, is made through adding value to cereals like maize and makes a great breakfast.

Also speaking at the same function, Minister of Industry and Trade Sosten Gwengwe hailed Universal for the initiative.

“Politicians cannot solve all the challenges facing the country. We need the private sector to come in and that is why I am grateful to Universal for this. They have shown us that it is possible to fill this country with homemade products,” he said.
