UTM Party youths have donated 100 uniforms to learners at Namasimbi Primary School in Blantyre City South Constituency.

Speaking on Tuesday during the handover, Penjani Kalua, who led the youth, said the donation was in response to the school’s request.

In his brief address, the musician-cum-politician said that their visit to the school revealed some areas they need to help further.

“We will raise funds to construct another school block,” said Kalua, also known as Fredokiss in music circles.

In his remarks, the school’s deputy head teacher Anesi Maliro said the uniforms will motivate learners to work hard.

He said although the education policy does not make wearing of uniforms compulsory, learners without uniform feel demotivated to attend classes.

“Some parents are not able to buy uniforms for their children,” said Maliro.
