Mighty Wanderers FC have signed Nigerian defender Adeleke Kolawole on a two-year contract.

The club’s presidential committee chairperson Clement Stambuli and Kolawole confirmed yesterday that the contract signing finalised after government issued a work permit for the centre-back.

Kolawole: I am glad that finally I have been issued a permit

However, both parties could not disclose terms of contract, including sign-on fees.

“We are very happy to have him signed. Adeleke is a good defender and we are sure he will add value to the team as we compete for honours in the top-flight league this season,” Stambuli said.

On his part, Kolawole said he was excited with the challenge of playing for one of the biggest football clubs in the country.

“I missed Wanderers’ two TNM Super League games due to delays regarding my work permit. I am glad that finally I have been issued a permit and it is a great pleasure to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Malawi,” he said.

Kolawole played for Karonga United on loan last season after his contract with Nigerian lower division club Rason Inter FC expired.

Wanderers concluded last season without silverware and they are confident the beefing up of the squad with players such as Kolawole will help to turn around their misfortunes this season.
