Wendy, Tay Grin revel in global excellence

Mwanza West legislator Joyce Chitsulo (Independent) yesterday asked President Lazarus Chakwera if he is aware that farmers are failing to redeem Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) fertiliser due to national identity cards irregularities.

Chitsulo took advantage of the President’s appearance in Parliament to answer questions from members of Parliament (MPs) in accordance with Section 44 (1) of the Constitution.

She asked: “Do you know your Excellency that the farm inputs are there but farmers are failing to redeem them because of a simple mistake of the name of the person or the name of the village?”

In response, Chakwera said government is aware of the challenge and that it was being fixed right at the selling point once identified.

The President further said government is also working on introducing other technologies to ensure AIP was more efficient.

“That challenge is being fixed once identified so I would urge farmers to visit their nearest selling points to access the inputs, soon the challenges will end once the new technologies are fixed,” Said Chakwera.
