Woe to him that made a fuel attendant sin

Dear judge Mbadwa,

My lord, I wish somebody could make a short prayer for the vulnerable fuel attendants’ poor souls lest they do not make it to heaven because of a problem that is not of their own making.

My lord, the failings of the Tokha government on fuel is creating monsters in fuel attendants and this is worrying me.

Have you noticed that fuel attendants are now more prone to lies than they were before the crisis hit Nyasaland?

My lord, most attendants are now easily enticed to accept bribes by desperate motorists who just want to have their tanks filled to capacity regardless of the rationing.

My lord, the crisis has made most attendants corrupt and this is where I want you to step in and stem the tide.

I don’t want to blame the attendants who have now forged a strange relationship with motorcyclists to operate illegal filling stations in ghettos because desperate times call for desperate measures.

If I am to be religious, my lord, I will blame it on Tokha if the attendants are to be thrown into the lake of fire because the current administration has created a fertile ground for them to sin.

And what does the Bible say? Woe unto the one that cause the little ones to sin. So, the sins of the fuel attendants are on the head of Tokha Are Liars.

My lord, I have seen how some permanent secretaries have been forced to lie on behalf of the government on the Westgate mess and all those excesses. Noble officials are being asked to stammer their ways into lies to save the administration but woe to those forcing them into those nonsensical lies.

My lord, I wanted to remind you that we once listened to a soothing poem from Lazaro titled Fixing the Unfixable to Achieve Short Term Goals in the Long Run or something of that sort at the opening of the fifth meeting of the 49th session of Nyasaland Legislative Council.

It is at that function where we got to know that when it comes to reciting sweet-nothings that tinkle the ears of citizens on what had been planned to transform Nyasaland, Lazaro has no equal.

And till now it has all been talk, talk and more talk with little to show for.

My lord, we need to see action and solutions on prevailing crises before we can talk about change coming to town. Yes it has been three years already.

Meanwhile, I still believe fuel attendants should not be made scapegoats for the failures of big people. Their sins of commissions and omissions ought to be forgiven.
