World Vision builds health post in Chitipa
World Vision Malawi has constructed a health post in Traditiobal Authority Mwenewenya to enhance healthcare services in the area.
The facility in group village head (GVH) Kamiramphande will offer under-five clinic and family planning services, among others.

A mother, Misozi Kafunda, said women used to travel about 11 kilometres to Wenya Health Centre for under-five and antenatal services.
She said in an interview on Sunday that the facility will help promote safe motherhood in the area.
“We are happy that our children will attend under-five clinics within reach. In some instances, the health surveillance assistant used to conduct under-five clinics at a maize mill or under a tree,” said Kafunda.
GVH Kamiramphande said some patients in emergencies were ferried in wheelbarrows to Wenya Health Centre.
“With the health post, we will have a healthcare worker stationed at the facility and we can get immediate assistance any time before being referred for further treatment elsewhere,” he said.
The chief said community members are also building a house for a health surveillance assistant.
On his part, Kamiramphande Village Development Committee chairperson Kondwani Sibale said the health post will promote immunisation and nutrition among children.
“As a structure that plans on development project, we asked World Vision to construct the health facility because our area had none. When we say development, we mean having structures such as these to improve service delivery,” he said.
The area’s health surveillance assistant Jessie Silavwe thanked World Vision for the structure, saying it will ease her job as she used to operate in a maize mill.
World Vision Chitipa district programmes manager Hendrix Kalanje said they implemented the project to promote the well-being of children in the area and promote safe motherhood.
