World Vision Malawi (WVM) has donated assorted items and drugs to Ntchisi District Health Office to assist the district in the prevention of Covid-19.

Ntchisi WVM district programme manager Harold Munthali said the items will be distributed to Mzandu, Chinthembwe and Khuwi health centres as well as in trading centres in three traditional authorities where they are operating in the district.

“WVM works in various development programmes. We know Covid-19 is a hindrance to development; hence, the donation,” he said.

Besides the donation, Munthali said they will conduct orientation meetings on Covid-19 with religious leaders and health surveillance assistants (HSAs) in traditional authorities Chikho, Vuso Jere and Kalumo.

Ntchisi district environmental health officer Thomas Lweya commended WVM for the support.

“This is a timely donation and we will ensure that the materials are delivered to the health centres and trading centres as soon as possible,” he said.

Ntchisi district Light House coordinator Annie Kanyemba, who represented non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the district, appealed to other organisations to emulate WVM.

The items included gloves, chlorine, washing powder, soap and assorted medical drugs worth K9.7 million.
