MSC Orange, MSC Blue, MSC Veterans and Indian Sports Club (ISC) qualified for Sunday’s semi-finals of Xerographics Eight-A-Side Cricket Tournament.

MSC Orange thumped MSC Grey by 98 runs after making 173 runs against 75 while MSC Veterans earned a rare quarter-final triumph over Cricket Academy (CA1) by 28 runs. They made 100 runs against 72.

At Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC), ISC and MSC Blue defeated MSC Green and MSC Purple 129-69 and 124-75 respectively.

MSC Orange’s Shoeb Pathani was probably the best player on the day as he made an individual score of 45 runs for his team before claiming three wickets in the second innings.

MSC Grey’s Arshad Wadiwala was the second-best player with 30 runs, but his effort was way too far to save his team from the chop. His captain Elyus Bhikhu admitted that their opponents made insurmountable runs in the first innings of the 16-overs contest.

MSC Orange captain Khalil Badat expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance

“We crashed them badly. We are on our way to claim the title,” he said.

According to Southern Region Cricket League (SRCL) chairperson Shiraz Zaveri, MSC Orange face MSC Veterans in the semis at Indian Sports Club while ISC play MSC Blue at Mpingwe Sports Club.

“The finals will be played on the same day. So, the semi-finals will be played in the morning,” he said.
