Batting, runs and wickets will be the catch-phrases among cricket lovers this Sunday as Xerographics Eight-A-Side Cricket Tournament returns to action in the quarter-final stage after a month-long Ramadan period.

The bellows of such buzzwords will reverberate from within the confines of Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) and Indian Sports Club (ISC) in Limbe where eight teams will battle for the four semi-final slots starting from 8.45am up to 5.30pm.

According to Southern Region Cricket League (SRCL) chairperson Shiraz Zaveri, ISC will face MSC Green in the morning at MSC before a battle between MSC Blue and MSC Purple takes the stage.

At ISC, MSC Veterans will be up against Cricket Academy (CA1) before a tussle between MSC Grey and MSC Orange.

“All is now set for the quarter-final battles after we successfully observed the Ramadan period,” said Zaveri.

He said the inaugural 16-overs competition, which kicked off with 10 teams over two months ago, will wind up next week at the ISC.

“The semi-finals will also be conducted on the same day of the finals next week. One semi-final match will be played at MSC and the other at ISC in the morning. Then, the grand finale will follow in the afternoon,” Zaveri said.
