Hoho Youth Organisation in Kasungu on Friday donated school uniforms, exercise books and assorted writing materials to 35 needy pupils—17 boys and 18 girls—from Boma Primary School in the district.

Speaking during the function, one of the group’s leaders, Suzgo Nhlane, said his group was touched that some pupils at the school lack so many basic necessities which prevent them from excelling in their academic pursuits.

He said the group felt duty-bound to donate to the needy students after noticing that many pupils were not doing well in their academic activities because they lack basic necessities such as uniforms and writing materials.

Nhlane said they chose Boma School because they wanted to first support the community which gives them business and where some group members operate from, but added that they would eventually spread to other areas as they find more resources.

He thanked other individuals and organisations who supported the cause for reaching out to the pupils through the items and cash they donated to the group.

Nhlane appealed to other individuals, companies, non-governmental organisations, the town council and other well-wishers to come to the rescue of more pupils at the school who are in dire need of help.

One of the pupils, Rebecca Ronald, thanked the group for the initiative.
