Youths in Blantyre have been advised to use their time profitably by engaging in charity work instead of just loafing around.

Youth Mindset Change director Valentino James made the remarks on Saturday when his organisation made a donation of various items to Chileka Health Centre in Blantyre.

He said as young people, it is important to use time by helping others while at the same time doing some productive engagements.

“We decided to make this donation as a reflection of our objective which is reaching out to the needy in the Blantyre District,” James said.

He also said if the youth want to take up leadership roles in future, then they better start acting responsibly now.

“We have a responsibility to lead in the future, so we need to start acting now for the betterment of tomorrow,” said James.

The youth group donated plastic buckets, brooms and dust bins.

Chileka Health Centre in-charge Twaibu Makunganya thanked the youth for their initiative, saying it will go a long way in improving sanitation at the facility. The group is open to members aged 15 to 35 who are interested in leadership and charity work in Blantyre.
