Battle-hardened forward Jimmy Zakazaka has ruled himself out of Big Bullets’ trip to Comoros Islands next week due to contractual hiccups.

Zakazaka is one of the players registered by Bullets for the CAF Champions League tournament, but the player said he will not be part of the team that face Club Fomboni following the expiry of his contract.

“I still want to play for Bullets, but I cannot commit myself unless the issue of my contract is sorted out.

“I took up the issue with the club’s management and I am waiting to hear from them. Contractual issues are very delicate and I need to know the club’s position,” said Zakazaka.

However, Bullets general secretary Harold Fote claimed that Zakazaka has not showed any willingness to continue playing for Bullets.

“When his contract expired, we made the first move and approached him through our technical director [Billy Tewesa], but his response was that he was busy with other things.

“And based on his conduct, we felt maybe he was no longer interested because he would have reverted. We would have expected him to start training as negotiations were taking place, but he never did that,” said Fote.

Zakazaka was a key member of the 2004 Bullets dream team squad that reached the last eight of the CAF Champions League and scored a spectacular goal against Zanaco of Zambia in Lusaka that earned him the nickname ‘Weapon of Mass Destruction’ from fallen legendary commenentor Dennis Liwewe.

He was also Bullets’ leading scorer last season.
