Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) has offered musician Eli Njuchi a deal to air his live video set of The Book of Z on Zodiak Television and Facebook for free.

Njuchi released the video set on July 4 2020. The songs were performed live with The Hive Band.

The 19-year-old musician has since started selling the seven-track live recording at K5 000.

Writing on his Facebook page, Njuchi said the deal with ZBS is an opportunity for his fans to watch the live set for free.

Njuchi: It is a big opportunity

He wrote: “Woke up to good news. Hon[ourable] Gospel Kazako has offered us airtime on Zodiak Television for free, to show The Book of Z live set on TV, all we need now are partners. God. This will allow my lovely people a chance to watch the live set on TV for free.

“Thank you honourable for this chance. Please do get in touch with me if you would like to partner in airing The Book of Z live set on Zodiak Television.”

In an interview, Njuchi said according to the deal, ZBS is expected to broadcast the set on Zodiak Television and Facebook streaming site on August 8 and be repeated for about three times.

He said: “As a team, we prepared proposals to all media houses and Zodiak backed us. I spoke with Gospel Kazako directly and he offered us what we requested.

“It is a big opportunity, a plus for an artist. When I worked on this project it was about allowing people to see what we have as artists. Having it on a national television will widen our audience.”

In a separate interview, Zodiak TV station manager Nakali Manjolo confirmed the deal but asked for more time to give details about their agreement.

Writing on Twitter last month, Kazako, who owns the television station, gushed Njuchi.

He wrote: “You will know Malawi has a future in music when you will be privileged to listen to a young up-and-coming musician answering to the name Eli Njuchi.

“He did a song titled Z. He is abundantly stunning, amazing, just raw sheer brilliance.”
