The list of performers during the Nyasa Music Awards (NMAs) 2018 ceremony is now complete with seven local acts set to take to the stage on the day.

Hip hop stars Gwamba, Tay Grin, Macelba, afro-pop singer Theo Thomson, Zani Challe, Great Angels Choir and Zathu Band form the list of performers who have been announced by organisers of the awards.

Save for the Great Angels Choir, all of the other six selected performers are also appearing on the list of those nominated in several categories and will be hoping to complete the evening successfully by walking home with an award.

Co-director for the NMAs James Makunje played down the development, saying it was never by design to favour those who have been nominated to perform during the awards.

“It is just sheer coincidence. Our plan has always been to encompass and cater for the well-being and development of all musicians in the country. But the group we have selected is so excited with the prospect of performing at the awards,” he said.

Makunje also said all arrangements pertaining to the event are done and assured that South African-born socialite and TV star Somizi Mhlongo, who was announced a month ago as the official host of the event alongside Judie Emcee, is indeed coming to Malawi for the show.

He said; “Everything is going according to plan. All our plans are intact as  announced. We intend to make this year’s show better than last year’s by a big margin.”

The Great Angels Choir group leader Ephraim Zonda said the group is thankful to the organisers for the opportunity to perform during the event and they are ready for another time of celebration and ministry.

“It will be another great time to interact with our fans. We are encouraged every time our fans come forward to give us support,” he said. n
