‘We will not be used for politics’

Moderator of Nkhoma CCAP Synod, Reverend Vasco Kachipapa, says the church will not allow politicians to use it to gain mileage ahead of the 2014 tripartite elections.

Kachipapa was speaking last Sunday during thanksgiving prayers held at Lilongwe Golf Club where the synod was launching its Radio FM 103.3.

He observed that there is a tendency among local politicians to use churches in their desperate campaign to win elections.

But Kachipapa said this does not mean the church will not play its role of providing civic education during elections.

“We will continue playing our role as civic educators. But we won’t allow some politician to use our church as a conduit for gaining political mileage,” he said.

Turning to the radio, Kachipapa said the synod will use the channel to spread the gospel of salvation.

He thanked donors and people of goodwill who contributed towards the rollout of the radio.
