The team needed to win the two matches to remain in contention.
However, Malawi lost 1-0 to Morocco in the second match at the tournament with Hiba El Mekkaoui on target for the Junior Atlas Lionesses.
As Malawi was losing 1-0 to Morocco, hosts Ghana defeated Benin 2-0 in their second game to top the pool with six points.
Hopes that Malawi might just recover were thwarted as the team went on to lose 3-0 to the hosts in their third and last match of the
tournament.
The results mean that Ghana has qualified for the semis as group winners with nine points alongside runners-up Morocco with six points.
Benin are third while Malawi anchors the group with no point.
In the match against Morocco, coach Bridget Chirwa’s first XI had Dorothy Manda in goals while, Thokozani Enock, Hamida Lifa, Juliet Kalua and captain Eneles Fabiano played in defence.
The midfield had Rejoice Silungwe, Rabecca Banda and Ongani Masamba while Talandila Kachala, Eunice Sinthaya and Mercy Banda played upfront.
In the second match later yesterday, the coach made five change, introducing fresh legs of goalkeeper Rhoda Peter, Khumbiso Gudugwe, Ethel Tambala, Tamandani Chilimba and Lisa Kenneth.
She, however, maintained Fabiano, Enock, Masamba, Kachala and Banda.
Despite Malawi’s poor showing at the tournament, Chirwa said she was happy with the performance’
She said: “We have suffered the defeat, but I ahappy with the performance. We have learned a lot.”
