5 released on bail in Thyolo fracas

Five of the seven people arrested on Wednesday following a clash in Thyolo have been released on police bail.

Thyolo Police spokesperson Edith Likaka and lawyer Bob Chinkango confirmed the news.

Likaka and Chinkango also said that the other two were still in detention, pending further police investigations.

The two, however, differed on reasons for the arrest.

Likaka said the seven have been charged with provocation

But Chinkango said the suspects were arrested as a protective custody.

Likaka said a fierce fight broke out involving villagers of Ngamano, Traditional Authority Thomas, leaving others severely injured.
