The Development Aid from People to People (Dapp) has said training more teachers can help improve education standards in the country.

Dapp Amalika Teachers’ Training College (TTC) principal Charlotte Dunkert said this in an interview at the graduation of 64 teachers in Thyolo on Friday.

She said Dapp is excited with the contribution it is making in the education sector.

“These graduates have been trained to make a difference in schools where they will be deployed. We are already receiving positive feedback from the schools where they teach,” said Dunkert.

She said they engage communities where the teachers are deployed to create a better teaching and learning environment.

Senior inspector and adviser for Shire Highlands Education Division, Margaret Chitseko, hailed Dapp for training more primary school teachers.

“It is very good for our Ministry [of Education] as these teachers will help improve education standards in the country,” said Chitseko.
