BB donate to Zomba Hospital
TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets players on Wednesday took advantage of the current off-season to donate an oxygen concentrator machine and assorted food and laundry items worth K2 million (about $2 907) to Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH).
The top league sponsors TNM bankrolled the donation whose key beneficiaries were sick children and newly born babies.
Speaking after presenting the items, Bullets captain Fischer Kondowe said they chose ZCH as a beneficiary because most of the patients are needy.
“This hospital assists a lot of people from rural areas, most of whom are needy. It felt good to visit the patients and provide this support,” Kondowe said.
TNM regional head for the South Francis Mwamadi said they sponsored the donation as part of their commitment in supporting the communities.
“After Bullets emerged champions, we felt that it was important to support them in charity work,” he said.
ZCH chief hospital administrator Thom Chisale thanked Bullets for the support, saying the oxygen concentrator machine will be used in the paediatric ward.
“This ward is highly congested and lacks resources. This donation is timely and will ease the challenges which we are facing,” he said. n
