Zimbabwe to host Sadc Industrialisation Week July 29
Zimbabwe is gearing up to host the 7th edition of the Sadc Industrialisation Week in Harare from 29 July to 2 August 2024.
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries has been working relentlessly with the Zimbabwe government, the Sadc secretariat, and the Sadc Business Council to mobilise and coordinate private sector participation at the Sadc Industrialisation Week.
In a statement released yesterday, the organisers said it was imperative that the private sector plays a significant role in making Sadc economic integration and industrialisation a reality.
Reads the statement in part: “The regional value chains that are being developed include, leather, cotton, pharmaceuticals and agro-processing where business opportunities across the region will drive manufacturing.
“The growth of manufacturing based on the mining and agriculture growth in the region will be key drivers of industrialisation.”
It further said MSMEs and entrepreneurship are under the spotlight and as entrepreneur driven economies, the potential to grow the internationalisation of SMEs is going to be one of the topical discussions.
“We have the Representative of the German Association of SMEs coming to share the German experience in building SMEs that can go global as we we aim for the first step of making our SMEs go regional,” the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries statement said.
So far, all the Sadc countries are sending their private sector representative organisations as well as companies to the Zimbabwe expo to explore investment opportunities.
During the industrialisation week, the chamber has organised a special occasion of signing a cooperation MoU with the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mauritius has already confirmed they will have a business delegation heading to Zimbabwe for the week.
The investment promotion agencies from the region are going to be showcasing manufacturing investment opportunities and incentives in their respective countries to the business delegates that are coming to the expo.
“We are looking forward to interacting with EDB who are going to showcase their Free Port Zone at the Sadc Industrialisation Week. Entrepreneurs, Industrialists, investment houses and policy institutions are urged to attend,” said the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries.
