Bullets thrash Kumanda 22-1

FCB Nyasa Bullets on Saturday demolished non-league side Kumanda Stars 22-1 in the Castel Cup Round of 64 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The People’s Team scored 11 goals in each half to progress to the next round on the day their assistant coach Heston Munthali celebrated his birthday.

Gumbo captured in action

Bullets made their intention clear when they scored in the second minute through Ronald Chitiyo. But it was Chawanangwa Gumbo who led the onslaught, scoring eight goals.

Precious Phiri scored six goals, Stanley Billiat netted four while Chikumbutso Salima claimed a brace and Ephraim Kondowe scored the other goal.

Bullets coach Kallisto Pasuwa said they were ruthless in the attacking third.

“The approach was very positive and we could see each and everything they were doing. They wanted a win,” he said.

Kumanda coach Innocent Katchika blamed the loss on officiation.

“We will go back to our drawing board. But three of the goals were scored because of poor officiation by assistant referee,” he said.

In other matches, Mighty Tigers beat Bilila 1-0 while Creck Sporting went through after beating Ergo 3-1 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw in open play.

Kameme beat Bolero 5-4 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw and MMM Marines overcame The Boyz 1-0 to progress to the next round.
