Renowned hip hop artist Gwamba has announced a nationwide tour from May to August with musical shows dubbed Wanted Tour.
The tour will feature 16 shows, four each month targeting Mzimba, Kasungu, Dowa, Dedza, Mchinji, Phalombe and Chiradzulu districts..
In an interview, Gwamba said many fans have never had a chance to see him perform live.
“There are so many districts with Gwamba fans but, [they] have never seen him on stage. This is the reason we are doing this tour,” he said.
Performances are scheduled for the first and last weekends of May.
According to Gwamba, the tour will start on May 2 and 3 with shows in Mzimba and Kasungu respectively. On May 30 and 31, he will perform in Mchinji and Dedza respectively.
He added that schedules for June, July and August will be announced later.
Said Gwamba: “In terms of performance, there are other shows where I will be performing with the CD and others with live band.
“Again, wherever I go, I will be giving a platform to up-and-coming artists from those districts to share the stage with us.”
Kasungu-based Gwamba fan Bongani Mughogho said he is anticipating a memorable day and Gwamba’s energetic performances.
“I am excited about Gwamba’s tour. His music resonates with many young people here in Kasungu. The event will provide an amazing opportunity to witness his energy and vibe live,” he said.
Mchinji-based up-and-coming artist Chika Malawi, real name Chimwemwe Kapenula, said the opportunity is to make a breakthrough.
