Skefa’s Real sounds and Diminish bands leave mark at Mpherembe

Skeffa Chimoto,  The Real Sounds and Diminish bands impressed people in Mzimba North during the installation ceremony of village Headman Thula Mtonga as group village head (GVH)Khozapi Mtonga.

The ceremony, bankrolled by Khozapi Investment, began last Friday and ended on Sunday afternoon.

Led by Skefa Chimoto, fondly known as ‘the jamming machine’ the band dished out songs that made the Ngonis to ask for more.

The bands had Ndozi Bonongwe, Lusuwayo Palinji, Philip Chavula, Cossam Bowa, Happy Thoma, Blessings Chisale, Dan Muyaya, Milly Chimoto, Thomas Phiri and Ras Palinji playing various instruments and backing vocals.

They dished out Kankha, Lengeleni Mtima, Kulemekeza Aliyense, Ulesi, Ali mbali yanga, Thandi, Dalitsani Okendedwa and many more that made days and nights for all.

Chimoto thanked patrons and promised to spare a day to give them another round of songs.

“Thank you people for being good patrons. I enjoyed your company and would come back for another round of songs,” he said.

Diminish Band leader Prince Valamanja also stole the show with covers like Lucky Dube’s Teach the World, Giddes Chalamanda’s Mwana wa Nzeru, Bob Marley’s Rastaman chants, Lucius Banda’s Umunyengerere and Billy Kaunda’s Mawu Angawa.

Khozapi Investment director Owen Mtonga thanked Mpherembe communities for their oneness and dedication to celebrate with his brother Thula on his installation as GVH Khozapi Mtonga.

Meanwhile, despite the excitement, at least four people fainted and were rushed to Mpherembe Health Centre for medical attention. They are now feeling better as confirmed by organising committee chairperson Tare Mhango.
