Said Kunkuyu: “You are vital stakeholders because of the role you play in disseminating information to the public. As we gear up for the elections, it is essential that the information you share is factual and reliable.”

The minister warned that elections are a sensitive matter that requires balanced and impartial reporting to prevent unrest.

He further encouraged information officers to proactively counter misinformation circulating on social media as the election approaches.

On his part, Macra board director Isaac Songea said the workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of district reporters by equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for responsible election coverage.

The workshop was held under the theme ‘Rethinking community broadcasting and ethics ahead of September 16 2025 Election’.
