Chinzimu unveiled at Swedish club
Scorchers and Ascent Soccer Academy midfielder Faith Chinzimu has been unveiled at Swedish women’s football giants BK Häcken who are seasoned participants in the Uefa Women’s Champions League.
Her unveiling follows completing a three-year deal, including medical.

The 18-year-old is the second women’s football player from Ascent Soccer to join a top-tier European club after Rose Kadzere, who joined French side Montpellier last year.
Said Chinzimu: “I am so excited and grateful for this great opportunity.
“Ascent Soccer gave me everything to reach this stage and I am happy to finally don the jersey of this great European club. I also thank everyone who supported me on this journey. I am ready to work hard, learn from my new teammates and contribute to the success of my new club.”
Maguire said Chinzimu’s move to the Gothenburg-based club marks a significant milestone for both the player and Ascent Soccer.
He said: “We are incredibly proud of Faith and her journey. Her transfer to BK Häcken is a testament to her talent, her resilience and the power of our program.
“It shows our commitment to providing a clear pathway for our players, not just on the pitch, but in life. Her success, alongside Kadzere’s, will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of young women’s football players in Malawi and beyond.
“She has been a standout talent since joining Ascent Soccer. Her dedication, hardwork and leadership have been instrumental in her development. She has also represented Malawi at various levels, showcasing her immense potential on the international stage.”
BK Häcken, founded in 1970, is a powerhouse in Swedish women’s football known for its professional environment and commitment to developing top-tier talent.
The club’s reputation and its focus on nurturing young players made it an ideal choice for Chinzimu’s next step.
Ascent Soccer Academy is a Lilongwe-based non-profit organisation, which uses a unique combination of elite football development, quality education and life skills training to empower talented young boys and girls.
Maguire said the academy is dedicated to creating pathways for its players to succeed both on and off the pitch with focus on scholarships and professional football opportunities.
