Chief Secretary says human capital key to MW2063 success
Chief Secretary to the Government Justin Said says human capital development as an enabler of Malawi 2063 (MW2063) needs to be harnessed to achieve a lower middle-income economic status in five years.
Speaking during the Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) annual lakeshore conference in Mangochi on Friday, he said for a company to flourish, human capital development should be taken care of.

“The thrust of any economy is its people and in any organisation, issues of human resource are very critical,” said Saidi.
He assured IPMM members of government’s committment to facilitating the passing of the Human Resources Management Bill into law.
Saidi said the Bill is at the Ministry of Justice for vetting before it is submitted to the Cabinet for discussion.
IPMM president Frank Sabola said there is no law that regulates the entire human resource profession in Malawi unlike in other countries, as such there is no order.
He said: “If the country is to do well economically, we have to manage our people and manage them very well.
“The law will ensure there is effectiveness in the way we manage human resources.”
MW2063 recognised human capital as critical to designing programmes, implementing strategies and creating innovations.
The three-day IPMM conference attracted presenters from Malawi, Kenya and South Africa who spoke of the benefits of motivating the human resources to achieve desired results.
The conference, themed ‘HR Re-imagined: Shaping the future of work’, attracted over 600 participants, highlighting the importance of HR reform in Malawi’s workforce.
