FCB Nyasa Bullets coach Wedson Nyirenda has praised the club’s new signing Sheku Sheriff, saying that the attacking midfielder will add creativity, competition and greater attacking options to the People’s Team.
The Liberian has signed a two-year contract with Bullets after leaving Liberian Premier Soccer League side LPRC Oilers at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 26-year-old left-footed midfielder becomes Bullets’ first signing of the mid-season transfer window and Nyirenda’s first since taking charge of the club in June.
The Zambian tactician said in an interview that the club specifically targeted a midfielder capable of operating in advanced positions and contributing goals and assists.
He said: “We have been looking for an attacking midfielder who can also operate further forward. Someone with an eye for the decisive pass and a strong instinct for goal. Sheriff possesses those attributes.
“We have very good midfielders, but we wanted to add a player capable of driving from deeper areas to create opportunities and threaten the goal. Greater competition will give us more balance across the team.”
Nyirenda also praised Sheriff’s character and leadership qualities, saying the club expects him to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.
“Sheriff handles the ball well and uses space intelligently. He also has good character, leadership qualities and a strong mentality. We believe he will add value to the team and look forward to seeing him bring those qualities onto the pitch,” he said.
On his part, Sheriff said joining Bullets represents an important step in his career and an opportunity to showcase his talent outside Liberia.
“It feels amazing to join Bullets. This is a big step in my career and an opportunity to showcase my talent outside Liberia, so I am very happy to be here,” he said.
The Liberian said he was ready to compete for his place in a squad comprising quality players.
“As an attacking midfielder, I believe I have qualities that can add something different to the team, including my creativity and ability from free-kicks. I am joining a squad with very good players, so I am prepared to work hard in training and compete for my opportunity,” said Sheriff.
He also pledged to give his best for the club and expressed hope of helping Bullets achieve their targets.
Sheriff started his senior career with NTA Professionals before joining Gardnersville FC in 2015 in Liberia.
He moved to LISCR FC the following year and spent eight seasons at the club, winning six trophies and featuring in the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
He left LISCR in 2024 and spent the 2024/25 campaign with Shaita FC before joining LPRC Oilers, where he scored four goals and provided five assists in 14 league appearances last season.
The midfielder also played for Liberia Under-20 side at the 2018 before graduating to the senior national team, with appearances in Africa Cup of Nations and Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
